2017 Grocery Walk
In 2017, DC residents held a grocery walk.
Residents demonstrated how difficult it is to access healthy food with only 3 full-service grocery stores for the 160,000 people in Wards 7 and 8.
The Grocery Walk marked a change by bringing issues of food access and health to the forefront. It grabbed the attention of DC Councilmembers and news outlets, and highlighted the need for ongoing food justice efforts in DC.
